Take OMG: OH MY GOD, mix it with PK, add a little of a Pop singer angle, put it in a mixer and whip for 4 seconds. Voila! You have DHARAM SANKAT MEIN. However, since there is a mish-mash of two movies, we have a rather crude version of how religion has taken over the sanity of people and made them katputlis in the hands of godmen and those who swear by the religion they are born into.

DHARAM SANKAT MEIN WALLPAPERS

Paresh Rawal seems to be becoming the brand ambassador for these types of movies. Actually, if they had another actor to play his part [of the confused, straight-talking, making fun of religions character] the film might have been different.

But having watched him excel in this role in OMG, this feels like an extension of that. This for me is the actual Dharam Sankat.

As you may have guessed from the above lines, this movie is all about religious bigots and foolish followers.

Dharam Pal (Paresh Rawal) is in a peculiar situation, when his son asks him to be a little dharmik (religious) as the girl he wants to marry is from a religious family. Moreover, her father is the right hand of one Neel Anand Baba who has thousands of followers. Dharam Pal has a flourishing catering business and in the beginning itself it is established that he hates Muslims.
He agrees to help his son out by going to Neel Baba's discourses and trying to learn the various ways in which to worship within his Hindu religion. He also learns a bitter truth very early on about his identity which puts him in a bind.

The movie then moves back and forth trying to clear the questions from Dharam Pal's mind as he addresses issues like he (Paresh Rawal) did in OMG.

Naseeruddin Shah is wasted in a meaningless role to which he brings no novelty. If you have not had enough of PK and OMG, venture out. If you have seen even the first take on this subject, OMG, you have seen it all.
