I seriously wonder what is it that makes talented actors participate in cinema that could well be described as an amateurish attempt at comedy by someone with zero sense of humour; like a novice who is at ‘play’ in his backyard with an ensemble star cast. I’m talking about heavyweights in the field of acting like Om Puri, Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher.
Khair, so we have three of the most talented actors this industry boasts of assembled with the sole intention of making us laugh. “You will die laughing,” Anupam Kher keeps reminding us… We would have been better off out of the theatre than watching this dark comedy which bores you to death!!!
For the record this film is about Anupam Kher who dies whilst ‘struggling’ with Rakhi Sawant. How his family tries to portray him as alive because the shares should not dip is what this flick is all about. Yes, there’s Prem Chopra as well who also dies ‘struggling’ with the Sawant girl. Vinay Pathak and Paresh Rawal too meet with the same fate. Vishkanya they call her!!! For the record, ‘struggling’ means ‘to sleep with’ the biggies in the hope of getting a role in a film.
Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak, have been making a name for themselves of late on the big screen with commendable performances. Their presence here like the above-mentioned names, makes you wonder whether they are in it for the love of acting or lure of the lucre.
Death of good acting or death of good direction? You tell us Rahul Rawail!
