SOOPER SE OOPER is a decent comedy with lots of drama. The first 20 minutes establish the plot with the situation shifting from Mumbai to Rajasthan. It's exciting. But director Shekhar Ghosh lingers on with the plot for more than required time, thus lengthening the movie. What should have ended inside an-hour-and-a-half stays over for 20 more minutes.

The acting is sooper here; be it Vir Das, Yashpal Sharman, Mohan Kapoor, Gulshan Grover or Kirti Kulhari. Infact, Deepak Dobriyal is almost unrecognizable as Kukreja builder who eyes the bungalow owned by Ranvir's (Vir Das) mother who passed away without leaving a Will.

Using all possible tactics to get the bungalow nestling besides his new Tower, Kukreja has almost pushed Ranvir to the wall. Where there is a will, there is a way. But with no Will, Ranvir is left in the lurch. His only hope is his maternal uncle, who he has not seen in ages. If his Mama gives him an NOC, Ranvir has no problem in getting the said property.

CHECK OUT: Vir Das' SOOPER SE OOPER goes on floors

He makes the long trip to Rajasthan in search of his Mama, who he soon learns has been educated in Oxford. Mama (Gulshan Grover) is an avid painter and a much respected elder in the village. Gulabo (Kirti Kulhari) and Yashpal Sharma are his closest 'family'. Ranvir updates his Mama about his problem who agrees to come to Mumbai.

However, there is another Mama that appears and who wants to sign the legal documents in favour of Kukreja Builders. All hope seems to be fast vanishing for Ranvir. Even the Stock Market he has invested heavily into is plummeting.

In between all this, Ranvir spots a spark in Gulabo and helps her get the right breaks in a dance show in the city of dreams. From materialistic to realistic, his journey is complete as he meets with his estranged Mama and his extended 'family'.

SSO is more drama than comedy. If Ghosh had tilted the percentage more towards comedy, the story would have been quite different. The casting is perfect and so is the screenplay and camera angles used. What was required was a little daring in cutting short the proceedings. Because in the end, you feel that the film just does not end!

And this is sad because it showed Sooper promise.
