Richa Chaddha of GANGS OF WASSEYPUR and FUKREY is a pale shadow of her characters in TAMANCHEY. Faced with no plot or script, the girl is left to fend for herself. And what does she do? She goes into 'overacting mode'. Forcing out dialogues to sound mean and rough and 'making out' in places that one only thinks of!
Director Navneet Behal, lets off his two lead characters (Nikhil Dwivedi included) like wild horses. And the two behave just like that. With no guidance on what to do next, they decide to take the story into their own hands and move forward, sometimes dodging bullets, sometimes using profanities and at times getting 'down and dirty'. With just a tamanchey in hand, you can't fire it. You need bullets. Likewise, with just two actors in hand, you cannot make a movie; you need a plot and a script.CHECK OUT - Tamanchey : Songs Lyrics
Watching TAMANCHEY gives you a feeling that the script was written on the sets, just like most of our television serials.
It starts in a most bizarre fashion with a police van [the two are in, along with half a dozen other criminals] falling off a cliff. Only these two survive... and thrive. BTW, these two are supposed to be on the 'other side of the law' that explains why they were in the police van. CHECK OUT - Nikhil Dwivedi: Richa Chadda & my love story forms the USP of TAMANCHEY
He is supposed to be married in a few days, but since they are considered dead, and she assures him that their file is closed, they decide to lie low. They 'make out', he falls in love with her, and she tells him she was drunk. She runs away. He later traces her and pursues her. But she is already a mistress of another gang lord!
That's the TAMANCHEY story in short.
