Michael Douglas-Aishwarya roped in
The Sahara One Motion Pictures and Percept Picture Company have achieved a casting coup of sorts by roping in Michael Douglas and Aishwarya Rai, for its next film, which is scheduled to go on the floor later this year. Tentatively titled, RACING THE MONSOON, the film is said to be the third part in the trilogy of ROMANCING THE STONE and JEWEL OF THE NILE, both of which had Kathleen Turner playing the female lead. The $65m film to be shot in Surat, Lucknow and parts of Rajasthan, is also being co-produced by Douglas, who is currently in Amby valley to finalize the action plan for the project.
There has been a lot of speculation about who will direct the film, with several leading international names on the list of probable directors but the buzz is that it will most likely be Douglas' favorite, Paul Verhoeven of BASIC INSTINCT fame. Interestingly, the news goes that Douglas will be playing Aishwarya Rai's co-conspirator and not a love interest in the film.
