Antra Mali - Loves lights and colours, no bursting crackers
Antra has lot to celebrate this year as she turned writer-director for her latest venture, ‘Mr. Ya Miss’. Early morning tied-up in her busy schedule, she manages to spare some time with Galmsham.com. She expressed her views on Diwali and also shared her celebrating plans for coming Diwali. “For me ‘Diwali’ is a time when I get to eat lots and lots of sweets. Diwali gives us many reasons to celebrate and enjoy with your family and friends.”
She enjoys celebrating Diwali with more of colours and lights, she doesn’t like firing crackers. “I love this festival because it’s full of lights and colours. I love lights, every year during Diwali I make sure that I go for a long drive at marine drive and enjoy that view full of lights and liveliness’ in Mumbai.” She doesn’t have ‘Diwali blast’ as such but she enjoys celebrating Diwali with low-note celebration. Subtly she says, “I love decorating my home by lighting Diyas and make colourful Rangolis. I also perform small ‘Pooja’ at my home”.
With great smile on her face she says, “I love to see colourful fireworks sparkling in the night… I basically don’t like noise so I don’t burst crackers, which hammer my ears. I love to celebrate Diwali with lights and colours.”
Getting bit nostalgic, she cherishes her Diwali celebrations during her earlier days, she added, “During Diwali every year I recall my childhood days when we all use to go to temple and had loads of sweets. I still remember as kids we use to burst those (she thinks of that particular cracker), Tick Tick with stones (finally she explains about those crackers burst by the kids), we were so amused for that momentary enjoyment.”
Antra candidly reveals why Diwali is her most liked festival, “Diwali gives me a genuine and obvious EXCUSE to spend time with my family and friends. Its like, people in our field have to work 24x7, far away from home and Diwali gives us an excuse for not working on this particular day’’.
This year Diwali celebrations will be quite different for Antra as she is now not only an actor but also a writer-director for her upcoming movie. So, she has loads of reasons to celebrate this Diwali with great blast. Recalling her last year’s Diwali celebrations, she says,” Last year I had Diwali blast with the premiere of my movie ‘Naach’. This year I’m bit tied up, as I am busy with my directorial and writer debut movie, ‘Mr Ya Miss’, so lots of things are to be done. Though I’m busy with my latest venture this year but I’ve one more reason to celebrate Diwali and enjoy the festive mood to its fullest.”
On asking her how she is feeling now as being director and writer both, she says, “I am experiencing entirely different kind of feeling…it’s very different than just being actor, as writer and director hold loads of responsibility. So, I am feeling excited, nervous and experiencing different kind of ‘kick’. It’s really great being director and writer.” She expresses her wish she wants Goddess Lakshmi to bestow on her, modestly she adds.” I want Goddess Lakshmi to always shower her priceless blessings on me.”
