Despite the fact that his arrest has set producers and distributors of his films worrying about the resultant delay in their films, Salman starrers continue to be a hot bet in the distribution market. Nimbus Communications for one has clarified that it is determined to acquire the Salman-Akshay starrer, JAANEMAN, irrespective of the recent spate of developments. 'The sentence announced by the Jodhpur court convicting Salman, may well have its repercussions in terms of the release date of the film undergoing a slight change but we are as much keen to acquire the rights of the film, as we were at one point of time,' says Viveck Vaswani, Group Advisor, Nimbus Communications.
Vaswani further adds that an acquisition of this proportions involving two superstars coming from a giant banner like the Nadiadwalla Grandsons, does entail going through various rounds of talks, which is why the corporate heads of both Nimbus and Nadiadwalla, have been negotiating across the table since the past few weeks. 'The legal counsel of both the companies are trying to arrive at an early consensus on the issue,' Vaswani informs.
It may be recalled that Nimbus was last said to have offered an unheard of price, estimated in the range of Rs 6-7 crores for the Mumbai rights of the film, the highest price for a Salman starrer so far. If and when the deal comes through, the film will set a new precedent in terms of the price paid for a Salman starrer.
