
Independence Day Special - Contemporary directors voice their opinion on 'Freedom'!

Yet another Independence Day has arrived and like always, everyone who is a someone in society is busy voicing his or her views on the subject. Have we achieved freedom in the true sense of the word? What do our contemporary filmmakers think of freedom? We quizzed six new generation filmmakers about the concept of freedom and what they feel about it on the eve of Independence Day.
Kunal Kohli:
"I think we have a long way to go before we actually achieve freedom. A case in point is how Aamir Khan and the people connected to him, were censured during the release of FANAA, simply because he chose to voice his opinion on a particularly important issue. We are definitely not free if an honest citizen of the country is not allowed to speak his mind.
On the other hand freedom in this country exists only for those who wield power in political circles. The political lobby is making the best of its freedom while the common man continues to live in fear."
