The popular pop-band Enigma has this song, "Return to Innocence", which is an essential feature in all its releases. It revokes the memories of the childhood, and implores that one should return to it, if an iota of chance is visible on the horizon.

Where one to analyze the top three grosser movies in Bollywood, they emphatically prove the point that it is the element of innocence which has made them the hit they have become. Topping the list in the roll call of return to innocence is LAGE RAHO MUNNA BHAI, which has so far grossed more than 69 crore during the current year so far and is slowly graduating to the all-time hit blockbusters GADAR, which personified violence. Compared to GADAR, which could attain this figure after a long and sustained run, and built at a much higher cost, LRMB is indeed a film which has tickled the innocence inside the adult, the aged and the child off-course lapping it up, probably catapulting it to a projection where it could become an-all time hit. And the innocence is really epitomized in the song, pal..pal..pal.. which even heard, as a ring tone in a jam-packed train is a fantastic soothe sprayer. It could have grossed much more but for the innocent belief of the Producer that he has a product and he would not succumb to the demands of the market, but release it on his own terms.

The second super-duper hit has been KRRISH, which inspite of the techno-gloss and fantastic action sequences could not pip-up LRMB to the top, as it has innocence seeped in phases, but it was able to maintain its position as the number-2 owing to the fact that it had innocent children as its patrons, who turned out to be the biggest publicity agents for the film.

At the international level as well, the top grosser have always been the movies that appeal to the child in the man, apart from mesmerizing the child. This has been evident from the Star War epic days, to ET and various other sequels. The dinosaur series, which continue to appear in one avatar or the other, have been one of the biggest money grosser for Hollywood, apart from being top-money earners world over being dubbed in respective languages. This accentuates and underlines the fact that if one is able to touch the chord of innocence buried deep inside the common man, and then the guarantee of sweet jingle of coins making a symphony of wads of notes is assured return.
