After Vinod Kambli (ANNARTH) and Ajay Jadeja (KHEL), it’s Indian leg spinner Anil Kumble who’s trying his hand at acting. As per reports in a daily, Anil makes his Bollywood debut with Pritish Nandy’s MEERABAI NOT OUT opposite Mandira Bedi. The film will be directed by Marathi director Chandrakant Kulkarni and also stars Anupam Kher and Mahesh Manjrekar.

Mandira plays Meera, an ardent cricket fan and dreams of meeting her idol Anil Kumble. Mandira informed the daily that Kumble has a cameo in the film and doesn’t intend to pursue ‘acting’ as his career. Incidentally Mandira has anchored Sony’s Extraaa Innings also. Apparently the film will be released before the World Cup.

Director Milan Lutharia also intends to release his film HATTRICK (which has cricket as its backdrop) before World Cup. Incidentally Sanjay Suri’s forthcoming film SALAAM INDIA also deals with cricket.
