In the race of aiming at recovering maximum share of their investments within the first two weeks of the release, films today look forward to placing themselves in the market strategically.
None but BHAGAM BHAG should be mighty pleased about its release strategy since it arrives at a time when there is virtually not much competition for as many as 3 more weeks.
Coming today as a solo release [which is a good news in itself], it should be the first choice of the moviegoers this weekend since BAABUL hasn't worked at the box office and KABUL EXPRESS is running for restricted audience.
Next week sees 2 small/medium budgeted films in the form of ANWAR and I SEE YOU. Though I SEE YOU has a better chance at the box office, it still is least threatening for BHAGAM BHAG that has a deadly combination of Priyan, Akshay, Govinda and Paresh. On the other hand ANWAR would be lucky to get a good all-India release at good chain if theatres.
2 weeks later, i.e. on January 5th, there is virtually zero competition since the only film expected to arrive is THE BLUE UMBRELLA which would be released selectively. There are talks about ZAMAANAT coming on January 5th but one would rather wait and watch for it to actually arrive.
It will be only after BHAGAM BHAG enjoys a free run for 3 weeks when GURU arrives along with RISK on January 12th. By that time, BHAGAM BHAG is expected to have made enough moolah for it to be termed as the last super-success of year 2006.
