"My film BREAKING NEWS is basically about the electronic media and a TV journalist who is not really serious about her job until she gets into crime beat which drastically changes her life and attitude towards work", says the enthusiastic director (Vishal) of BREAKING NEWS.
So is BREAKING NEWS also about sting operations considering media as its backdrop. Also, is there really a need to conduct sting operations and expose corruption? "Journalism was introduced in the wake of crimes being committed, so that people could benefit from it. Basically everything depends on the way you use things. If media is put to the right use it does help the society. For instance, I don't care what a celebrity, as an individual, does at home, but if it impacts the society it does concern me", explains Vishal.
And what made him think of such a hard-hitting subject? "BREAKING NEWS is inspired by a story that I'd seen on TV though it's not completely based on it. I believe the media can go to any extent to boost their TRP ratings. Having said that I also feel that they've done a good job in the past. Actually, it has its pros and cons," reveals Vishal.
So is he apprehensive about this film, since it's his directorial debut? "I'm trying to make a good film giving it all that I can. I am not over confident or over ambitious, I've left things to God and destiny," he signs off.
The film also stars Koel Puri, Abhimanyu Singh, Swati Sen, Harsh Chhaya and Vinay Apte.
