His late grandfather, Kamaal Amrohi, left behind a rich legacy of films like PAKEEZAH, MAHAL, DAERA, DIL APNA AUR PREET PARAYEE and RAZIA SULTAN, which went to make a permanent place in the history of Indian cinema. Now it is 24-year old, Mashhoor Amrohi, grandson of the legendary filmmaker, who is all set to launch his maiden film under the erstwhile Kamaal Amrohi Pictures banner.
More significantly, he is set to create a history of sorts by being the first actor, who will also be writing and directing his debut film. Titled HUM LAAKH CHHUPAYIN PYAAR... MAGAR, the film is a romantic comedy, being produced by his father Tajdar Amrohi.
More interestingly, while his grandfather was inspired by the magnamity and grandeur of films in that era, Mashhoor is attempting a contemporary subject for his directorial and acting debut. HUM LAAKH CHHUPAYEIN PYAAR... MAGAR, deals with today's youth and their happy-go-lucky lifestyles. "Its an out-and-out fun movie with plenty of romance," he reveals, adding that he does intend to pick up from the rich legacy of his grandfather. "I am inspired by all of my grandpa's movies. Even if I can achieve half of his excellence, I would consider myself lucky," quips the multi-faceted young gun.
The music for the film has been provided by Siddharth Suhas along with debutant composer Abuzar. Six songs have already been recorded in the voices of Kumar Sanu, Shaan, Suraj, Sunidhi Chauhan and Adnan Sami. The shooting starts in mid-June.
