Actress Neha Dhupia has decided to turn down all roles "That require her to accede to unnecessary exposure on screen." Dhupia's clarification comes in the wake of a few offers that she refused recently on the grounds of skin show, which led to speculation that she has become extra careful about her choice of roles. According to Dhupia, "I am looking at working only with those makers whom I can count upon for being aesthetic in their depiction of roles. I have realized that even the slightest of exposure if not portrayed aesthetically can send wrong signals. I don't think anyone should have a problem with that."
She adds that her about-to-be-released films and her forthcoming films are a result of this policy decision. "It is a transition that I have achieved over a period of time starting with KYA KOOL HAI HUM, followed by SISKIYAAN, GARAM MASALA and now CHUP CHUP KE, which is scheduled for release," she reveals.
However she clarifies that saying 'no' to skin-show does not mean that she has given up on looking hot and glamorous. "It is the need of the hour and you can't afford not to be glamorous in this age. There's a new word called 'hot' that has been coined by the industry and any actress worth her substance has to qualify for this word. I don't intend to do otherwise," she says.
It may be recalled that Neha Dhupia's bold and sizzling performance in Deepak Shivdasani's JULIE, in the early stages of her career, gave her the tag of a "hot and sexy" actress, who had no inhibitions about exposure on screen. Currently, besides the scheduled-for-release, CHUP CHUP KE, Dhupia has two other films, EK CHAALIS KI LAST LOCAL, in which she has been paired with Abhay Deol and DELHI HEIGHTS, a love story in which she co-stars with Jimmy Shergill.
