
Rani to play a courtesan again?

Aishwarya Rai just essayed the role of a courtesan in UMRAO JAAN and now it's Rani Mukherjee to do the same in SAAWARIYA. As per reports in a daily, Rani is gearing up to play a courtesan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's SAAWARIYA. However this is not the first time she'll be donning the grab of a tawaif, she did the same in MANGAL PANDEY- The Rising earlier.
The song will be choreographed by Shiamak Davar. SAAWARIYA launches Rishi Kapoor's son Ranbir and Anil Kapoor's daughter Sonam and has Rani in a special appearance. The film apparently a romantic rhapsody also stars Salman Khan.
"SAAWARIYA is a bigger challenge than any of my four films so far. This is the first time I'm working with newcomers. I've always worked with established stars," Sanjay Leela Bhansali said in an interview.
The film has 8 songs penned by Sameer and composed by Monty, nephew of composer Pyarelal. It is expected to release in early 2007.
