The Supreme Court Friday asked the producers of "Black Friday" to release their film after a TADA court completes the process of convicting the accused in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts.

A bench of judges B.P. Singh and Altamas Kabir passed this order on a special leave petition filed by the producers challenging a judgement of the Bombay High Court staying the release of the film till the judgment in the blasts case was delivered.

The bench said the producers "need not wait till the completion of the pronouncement of the sentence to the accused by the TADA court".

The high court had passed its order on a petition filed by a group of blasts' accused who said the release of the film - based on the 1993 serial blast incidents - could affect the case.
