UTV is putting up a brave face in spite of their biggest film till date, RANG DE BASANTI, not managing to make a space for itself in the short listed films.
An official statement from the film making house says, "It was an honour for RANG DE BASANTI to compete with some great international films that are up for the running, at the Oscars this year. RANG DE BASANTI has touched and still continues to touch the hearts and minds of viewers across the world. The biggest reward has been the impact the movie has had on the youth of India and elsewhere. We look forward to the BAFTA awards where RANG DE BASANTI is the only Asia film to be nominated and is the company of the films like Mel Gibson's APOCALYPTO, Paul Verhoeven's BLACK BOOK, Guillermo Del Toro's PAN'S LABYRINTH and Pedro Almodovar's VOLVER."
Awards or no awards, the fact still remains that RDB has been one of the most socially relevant films to have arrived in India and has indeed developed a cult status for itself in the hearts of one and all.
May there be more to join the clan!
