Whether it was the unkempt Nanoo in PYAR KE SIDE EFFECTS or the lovable Delhite in KHOSLA KA GHOSLA, people just didn’t seem to get enough of him. We are talking about the very charming VJ-turned- actor Ranvir Shorey. He agrees to the fact that the two films have given him a new creative impetus. “PYAR KE…and KHOSLA…have definitely won me loads of accolades and recognition. Fortunately I landed up with good roles, under good directors.”

And now he has muscled his way into the Yashraj camp with Madhuri Dixit’s comeback film titled AAJA NACHLEY. It is directed by cinematographer Anil Mehta. Reportedly Madhuri plays a theatre artiste in the film. Ranvir Shorey and Konkona Sen Sharma play a part of her theatre group. “It’s a dream role for Madhuri Dixit. I play this guy who’s madly in love with her,” gushes Ranvir.

Ranvir also has a pivotal role in Rajat Kapoor’s MITIYA. He is grateful to Rajat for realizing his potential as an actor. He is also in awe of his costar Naseeruddin Shah. “Rajat first cast me in MIXED DOUBLES and now it’s MITHIYA. I am more than happy to be a part of the film. Naseeruddin Shah has been very generous in his love and affection. There was so much to learn from him,” enthuses Ranvir who plays a struggling actor who lands the role of a ‘real’ life in the film.

Ranvir prefers to be known for his work than his personal liaisons. Ask him about his alleged rift with Konkona Sen Sharma and he quickly snaps, “I don’t want to react to any of these questions!”

Incidentally he is paired opposite Konkona who plays a prostitute in TRAFFIC SIGNAL that exposes the underbelly of Mumbai. “The film portrays the life of people at traffic signals and shows how the beggars, eunuchs and others make a living at signals. I play a conman and a drug addict in the film,” reveals Ranvir.

He will also be seen in John Abraham starrer NO SMOKING, SIRF and HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT LTD. His decision to act in a film is influenced by the script and director. “The script is of primary importance. I enjoy ensemble pieces and character roles,” he signs off.
