 Post the Mauj album Asha and Friends success party at Krishna Tamang's Chinagate, Andheri, veteran singer Asha Bhosle gifted Urmila Matondkar an idol of goddess Saraswati, stating that, 'Urmila has the gift of Saraswati and is a a beautiful singer, receiving acknowledgements from veteran Anandji, Jagjit Singh, Shaan, Bhupinder, among others. , Will this gift work wonders for Urmi, the way it did for Sanjay Dutt and launch her musical career as well? Seems, apna Sanju baba was the first beneficiary of Asha's magic touch. 'She gave him the Vignaharta Vinayaka idol on Nov 20 and he was acquitted from Tada on Nov 28,' says Shamir Tandon, an elated conceptualiser and composer of the album.
'I gave Dutt Saab the vignaharta and prayed that all his troubles go away. And I am so happy they did. Urmila is like my granddaughter. I have followed her career and she has sung so beautifully that I felt that she is an embodiment of Goddess Saraswati in a way,' says Asha.
Adds director S Ramachandran ,'it was Urmila's dedication that made all the difference. She has the gift but she came for our shoot 45 minutes before time. Turning up at 5.15am for a 6am call time at Mukesh Mills in town is no easy task. And Urmila looked more fresh than the rest of us. It is this dedication that has made the vital difference.'
A tearful Urmila confessed that she has never felt so touched in her life. 'I am so touched that for the first time in my life, I am short of words,' she says. 'I just don't know how to put my feelings into words.'
As Krishna Tamang a die-hard Asha Bhosle fan puts it, 'Asha Bhosle's presence and the joy of participating in her success was a very emotional moment. We all were short of words. Her presence is itself such a blessing.'
