After the all time blockbuster GADAR - EK PREM KATHA, Anil Sharma has got the reputation of being a director who can only make patriotic action dramas. The media clearly ignores the fact that Anil Sharma started his career with family dramas like SHRADDHANJALI and BANDHAN KACHCHEY DHAAGEY KA.

However, with APNE, starring the three Deols - Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby, Anil Sharma hopes to start a new innings. APNE is a sensitive family drama about a veteran heavyweight boxing champion Baldev (Dharmendra) and his two sons Angad (Sunny) and Karan (Bobby). Though films on boxing have been made in Bollywood before, this will be the first time that the subject of heavyweight boxing championship will be tackled in a serious vein. In fact the services of a professional coach and trainers from Australia have been used in the movie.

As always, Anil's movie will have melodious music and this time he has the winning duo of Himesh Reshammiya and Sameer, but more about that later!
