The latest addition to the heroes of the film industry and one more inheritor of the legacy of Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor (son of Rishi Kapoor) is making big waves. Even as he is shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s SAAWARIYA, along with another debutante, Sonam Kapoor (Anil Kapoor’s daughter), comes the news that he has snatched a prize contract. According to reports, Aditya ‘all powerful’ Chopra was immensely impressed by Ranbir and has offered him a three-film contract! Is there any truth or are these are just rumours?

Anyway, for any actor today, established or new, to be offered a long-running contract with Yash Raj is huge. If true, the news must be particularly elating for Rishi and Neetu, Ranbir’s parents. The Kapoors, probably more than most, know how essential it is for an actor to be liked by the cinema-going public. That, in fact, is the very essence of being a film star. Though the reports on Ranbir have been generally been good, and the Chopra offer, if true, may be gratifying, it will be the case of a momentous Friday that will decide his fate.
