Nisha Rawal: Casting couch did bother me

Nisha Rawal"Being a sex bomb is an attitude", declares Nisha Rawal who would be making her big screen debut soon with the film HASTEY HASTEY. However, don't go by her bold declaration. The fact is that she is in no mood to don the 'sex bomb' avtar and is happy playing a cute-n-sweet girl next door, as has been her forte in the music videos and advertisements where she has featured over the years.

The girl who has been seen with Sonu Nigam in the music video of 'Chanda Ki Doli' and Lucky Ali in 'Kabhi Aisa Lagta Hai' would now be enacting the role of a bubbly and full of life New York girl in HASTEY HASTEY. Her co-star in the film is Jimmy Sheirgill.

While Nisha does have to her credit music videos with the likes of Raghav Sachar and Gurdaas Maan and also boasts of as many as 40 odd commercials (Coke with Aamir Khan, Close up, Tanishq, Bombay Dyeing, Rexona), what made her wait so long to jump into the big screen bandwagon?

"I was quite happy with my modeling assignments", informs Nisha who has been born and brought up in Mumbai, "Though I was getting offers to act in films even two years back, I wasn't sure if that was a zone I wanted to explore. I wasn't too keen on acting and was still contemplating if I wanted to mouth movie dialogues."

Getting candid, she also confesses that the horror stories around casting couch did bother her as well. "In modeling world, it is quite clear if you fit into a role or not. You audition; come back home and you are informed later if you have been shortlisted. However, I wasn't prepared for what may happen in the world of movies. I used to wonder if I may have an ugly encounter with casting couch."

Seems it turned out to be a false alarm eventually, isn't it? Smiles Nisha, "Yes, that's true. Thankfully I didn't come across people for whom film making is just a platform for leisure making. I guess what also came handy was the fact that I wasn't entirely new to the world of glamour and showbiz. It wasn't as if I was this naive girl who came out of nowhere and was impressed with the arc lights."

Being happy with the position she is currently in, Nisha gives a sigh of relief, "I didn't have to struggle since I had been seen in music videos and commercials. It may be bad for so many new girls who come in with dreamy eyes to make it big in the industry. Since I was already taking a step by step approach while walking up the ladder rather than trying to jump and reach the top, it worked for me."
