Anant Mahadevan: Koena's potential is yet to be tapped

An 'editorial decision' may have forced Ananth Mahadevan to completely do away with Aarti Chhabaria's presence in ANAMIKA - THE UNTOLD STORY. However, the other leading ladies of the film, Minissha Lamba and Koena Mitra, could well find themselves lucky as their respective roles stay on in this 'Rebecca' inspired film. The two are pretty much 'on the scene', (pun intended), and are not going anywhere from the film!

Laughs Ananth Mahadevan, "Come on, where is the question of me touching the parts of either Minissha and Koena? They are as much the pillars of the movie as is Dino Morea, who plays the leading man in the film. And mind you, I have always maintained that the character of 'Anamika' is quite important as well; it is just that the story gets killed if we have her in flesh and blood. Hence Aarti's role had to be chopped off."

Talking about Koena and Minissha, the director of AKSAR and AGGAR agrees that he was fortunate to get two diverse actors for his films.

"Koena and Minissha are so different from each other in terms of personality and acting. For a film maker, nothing works better than having variety in his characters."

He adds, "Koena plays an architect in the film and Dino gets in touch with her for business reasons. She has simply excelled in the part she plays. However, the irony is that even she doesn't realize that her potential is yet to be tapped to the fullest"
"She has performed exceedingly well in perhaps her first ever serious outing. Otherwise all this while you see her mainly in flippant movies", exclaims Ananth passionately about his leading lady.

As per the current release plans, ANAMIKA is all set to release coming Friday i.e. 2nd May. Two other films which would be competing for attention along with ANAMIKA are Suneil Shetty-Arshad Warsi starrer MR. WHITE MR. BLACK and PRANALI which features Nargis (of 'Garam Masala' fame) as the central protagonist.
