After a while, a small film coming from the house of Ram Gopal Varma is carrying good vibes.
Though SARKAR RAJ did take a very good opening, it was mainly due to coming together of Ramu with Bachchans which did create huge excitement. However, other than this BIG film, none of the recent Ramu films (either produced or directed by him) have managed to take a good initial in the recent years. CONTRACT, DARLING, GO, RAM GOPAL VARMA KI AAG, NISHABD, SHIVA, DARWAZA BANDH RAKHO, DARNA ZAROORI HAI - none of these films have boasted of good collections on their release.
However, the tide is pretty much expected to change with the release of PHOONK which is carrying good reports. The film is touted to be a scare fest and notches ahead of Ramu's own BHOOT. Says an insider, ''Get ready to be on the edge of your seat and risks falling off it as well as you watch PHOONK. The film's black magic theme is unique and Ramu's vintage touch of BHOOT is very much visible once again. He loves playing around with the horror genre and in PHOONK he has gone ahead an extra mile.''
Background music, innovative camera angles, sound design and well placed pauses are just some of the many ingredients which keep the narrative of a horror flick tout. Is that the case in PHOONK as well?
''Watch out for yourself when the film arrives on 22nd August'', nods the source, ''The technical crew has come together to create a superior product in the form of PHOONK. Ramu and the film's producers (Azam Khan and Parvez Damania of 'One More Thought Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.') are confident about the end product and this is the very reason why they are releasing the film on a day when 5 other Hindi films are releasing.''
PHOONK, which marks the Bollywood debut of Kannada star Sudeep, also stars Amruta Khanvilkar, Ehsaas Channa, Zakir Hussain, Ashwini Kalsekar and Ganesh Yadav in principal roles.
