The inevitable has happened. While it was always a remote probability to have Priyanka Chopra's DOSTANA and Harman Baweja's VICTORY to arrive on the same day, one could never be sure if that would have eventually turned out to be a reality.

When Karan Johar had gone ahead and announced the release date of DOSTANA as 14th November, Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV promptly pulled FASHION to October since it would have never made sense to bring two high profile Priyanka Chopra starrers close to each other. However, VICTORY (which again had it's release date set as 14th November, though tentatively) didn't budge from it's place and doubts started creeping in if the Harman Baweja starrer would eventually stick on to the same day release.

Now that would have been a heartbreaking clash considering Priyanka and Harman are known to be in a relationship and a clash of this sort would have been rather unnecessary, especially after the non-performance of LOVE STORY 2050.

Thankfully, the clash has finally been averted with VICTORY choosing to opt out of the race and instead arrive on 30th January. Though an official statement in this regard is still awaited, it is almost certain that the film would not be making it to the theaters in the current year.

This indeed is a wise move considering the fact that it gives Harman Baweja some more time to breathe easy and recharge his energy before his next big release. Also, with the last quarter of 2008 being dominated by films starring the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and company, VICTORY always has a higher probability of turning out of victorious if released in 2009.
