The coming Friday will see an interesting clash between Yash Raj's Bipasha, Ranbir, Minissha and Deepika starrerr BACHNA AE HASEENO and EROS International's Rumy Jafry directed Amitabh, Salman and Priyanka venture, GOD TUSSI GREAT HO. Given the promotion and the hype one feels that the Siddharth Anand directed BACHNA AE HASEENO may just about score over Afzal Khan's GOD TUSSI GREAT HO. Both the films will get the advantage of three additional holidays during the week. However, there will also be a strong competitor in the form of Vipul Shah's week old Akshay-Katrina starrer, SINGH IS KINNG, which is expected to again show a strong performance in the holiday weekend.

Last Friday's two releases, SINGH IS KINNG and GOOD LUCK went the expected and predicted way. The Anees Bazmee directed SINGH IS KINNG, released at 96 cinemas of Mumbai and suburbs through Studio 18 saw a very good start. Its opening was outstanding in East Punjab, Delhi and parts of U.P. and ranged from good to very good at other places. The film has netted around 27-28 crores during its first weekend in India. SINGH IS KINNG has also done exceedingly well in the Overseas grossing £493,281 from UK and $1,198,721 from the US. The other film, Aditya Datt's GOOD LUCK, released at 18 cinemas of Bombay and suburbs through Royal Screening saw a poor opening.

Trade feels that SINGH IS KINNG has the merits to score, especially in Northern India (East Punjab and Delhi-U.P.) because of its Punjabi flavour but given the high selling prices, the sailing may not be as smooth in the other circuits. The film is expected to be a runaway hit in the Overseas, especially UK and Canada. On the other hand, the Aryeman-Sayali starrer, GOOD LUCK, a non-starter, will be a trade disaster.

Moving on to Pritish Nandy Communications' UGLY AUR PAGLI, the film failed to appeal to its target multiplex audience, who found the comedy quite crude. The Ranvir- Mallika starrer collected 1.10 crores from Bombay, 26 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.80 lakhs from Rajkot, 1.50 lakhs from Jamnagar, 1.40 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 1.15 lakhs from Gandhidham, 9.10 lakhs from Pune, 1 lakh from Solapur, 3.15 lakhs from Nasik, 1.05 crores from Delhi City, 17.50 lakhs from Noida, 8.35 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 3.65 lakhs from Kanpur, 9.75 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.55 lakhs from Agra, 1.70 lakhs from Meerut, 2 lakhs from Aligarh, 18 lakhs from Gurgaon, 6.45 lakhs from Faridabad, 2.20 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.20 lakhs from Guwahati, 11.60 lakhs from Nagpur, 6.65 lakhs from Indore, 9.70 lakhs from Jaipur, 1.50 lakhs (gross) from Ajmer, 1.15 lakhs from Bikaner, 18 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.40 lakhs from Parbhani, and 2.60 lakhs from Mangalore. In its opening week, UGLY AUR PAGLI netted a so-so 7.35 crores from India, thanks mainly to its weekend business. Given its reasonable budget and price the film will get to a below average status from here.

After an ordinary first week, Apoorva Lakhia's Vivek, Zayed starrer MISSION ISTAANBUL cashed badly. The film collected 12 lakhs from Bombay, 9 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2 lakhs from Rajkot, 1 lakh (approx) from Bhavnagar, Jamnagar and Nagpur, 3.30 lakhs from Delhi, 1.15 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 3.60 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.05 lakhs from Allahabad, 1 lakh from Nagpur, 2.35 lakhs from Hyderabad and 1.40 lakhs from Aurangabad. Adding another crore, MISSION ISTAANBUL has netted just about 8 crores from India in two weeks. The Vivek, Zayed starrer has failed at the ticket window.

The Ganesh Acharya directed, MONEY HAI TOH HONEY HAI, has very poor collections to show after its dismal opening week. The film collected 8 lakhs from Bombay, 1.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.20 lakhs from Rajkot, 1.70 lakhs from Delhi, 1 lakh from Ghaziabad, 1.75 lakhs from Kanpur, 1.65 lakhs from Lucknow and 9 lakhs from Jaipur. With another 55 lakhs, MONEY HAI TOH HONEY HAI has folded up at a poor 5.25 crores from India. The Govinda, Manoj, Upen and Hansika starrer is a disaster.

After a big crash in its second week, Aziz Mirza's KISMAT KONNECTION takes a further tumble in its third and is on its way out from the cinemas. The film collected 20 lakhs from Bombay, 5.40 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.15 lakhs from Jamnagar, 1.65 lakhs from Pune, 1.20 lakhs from Nasik, 16 lakhs from Delhi city, 3.50 lakhs from Noida, 1.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2 lakhs from Kanpur, 3.75 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.10 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.20 lakhs from Faridabad, 2 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.15 lakhs from Indore and 6.70 lakhs from Hyderabad. With an additional 1.50 crores, KISMAT KONNECTION has netted a satisfactory 28 crores in three weeks from India. However, the Shahid-Vidya starrer remains in the above average category. The film has done reasonably well in the US having grossed $490,154 so far.

Aamir Khan and PVR Pictures' Abbas Tyrewala directed JAANE TU... YA JAANE NA has another quite steady week to show. The film collected 42 lakhs from Bombay, 8.75 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 3.70 lakhs from Pune, 1.30 lakhs from Nasik, 36 lakhs from Delhi city, 5.75 lakhs from Noida, 2.60 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 1.75 lakhs from Kanpur, 4.55 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.10 lakhs from Agra, 6.20 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.70 lakhs from Faridabad, 6 lakhs from Nagpur, 3.65 lakhs from Indore, 3 lakhs from Jaipur, 15.20 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.25 lakhs from Aurangabad. Collecting another 3 crores during its latest outing in India, JAANE TU... YA JAANE NA has netted an excellent 54 crores in five weeks from India. The Imran-Genelia starrer is a blockbuster hit. The film has had a good run in the US, grossing $604,037.
