The dismal fate of Harry Baweja's LOVE STORY 2050 has triggered a debate amongst the movie lovers as to whether the Hindi film audience is ready for films based totally on SFX. A section of the media has even gone ahead and are placing Abhishek Bachchan's Goldie Behl directed DRONA on the same platform as Harman Baweja's LS 2050. The reason being that both the films have a high dosage of special effects and are not superhero flicks like blockbusters, KOI...MIL GAYA and KRRISH. Unconfirmed trade sources are even saying that EROS is finding it difficult to sell the big budgeted (50-55 crores) DRONA to sub-distributors as a result of the LOVE STORY 2050 backlash.
However, this is just a supposed assumption as both the films are as different as chalk and cheese and we will tell you exactly why!
Well, while LS 2050 was wholly a futuristic sci-fi extravaganza with air cars, hover bikes, talking teddy bear etc, DRONA will not be travelling to the future at all. Instead it will delve into ancient Indian myths and legends and will show a world populated by magicians rather than machines.
Well, here is hoping that Abhishek will be able to cast his magical 'Guru' spell through DRONA when it releases on 2nd October along with the Sanjay Dutt-Imran Khan's KIDNAP.
