Farah Khan: I refuse to prove my solidarity to one & all

Over the Eid gone by, Farah Khan refused to wear a black band, an initiative which was started by some of her colleagues in Bollywood in protest against the Mumbai terror attack.
"They may have chosen to do that but I had strong reservations against that, especially since it was restricted to Muslims wearing the band. Why should I have done that? Just to prove that as a Muslim I condemned the act and hence wasn't in any mood of celebrating Eid. Sorry, but I am not going to join the line just because I belong to a particular religion", says Farah while being visibly upset about the way some of her colleagues from the industry joined the fray.
"I would have been a game for this provided entire industry would have taken a stand and come together to wear the band, regardless of the religion he or she would have belonged to. Now that would have made sense since it would have meant that together as a family, we are united and condemning the act. But if we want to begin a protest and wish to call a family comprising only of Muslims then it leaves a bad taste in the mouth", fumes Farah.
"Let's not trivialize the matter by bringing in religion into the scheme of things. This is a huge tragedy and even I didn't celebrate Eid. But I didn't wear a black band to showcase my protest. That would have just sent out a wrong connotation, something which I don't appreciate especially in current times. I refuse to prove my solidarity to one and all. I would rather do something far more constructive that looks at how we could better our future rather than joining such fray", concludes Farah Khan.
