Why this Ramu discovery is not a part of GHAJINI?

MOHIT AHLAWAT

While one Ramu discovery, Jiah Khan, is currently not–so–prominent in the promotion of GHAJINI, another Ramu discovery, Mohit Ahlawat (remember the guy got two big chances with JAMES and SHIVA), is completely missing from the scene. Reason? After being almost finalized to play the part of a cop in the Aamir Khan starrer, he was later replaced by Riyaaz Khan, the guy who played the same role in the original version as well.

What was the reason behind his exit from the film?

"Yes, Mohit was supposed to be the part of the film and we were in discussions with him to enact the important role of a cop", says Madhu Mantena, one of the producers of the film.

So what resulted in his exit?

"During the course of the casting we felt that we should be using the same person who did the original GHAJINI (in Tamil) as well. Mohit is a good friend of mine and understood the point of view. He too felt that we should go with the original", says Madhu in a cool tone.

There were some tabloid reports some time back though that Mohit was clearly unhappy with his role and instead chose to walk out himself.

"Well, you know how reports come out sometimes", smiles Madhu, "However, you have the answer for yourself. If Mohit found the role to be unsuitable, he had all the right to say No! What's wrong in that? I have worked with Mohit earlier while I was associated with Ram Gopal Varma. He is an understanding and a reasonable guy. No one has any hard feelings here", assures Madhu.

The guy who has replaced Mohit in the film is Riyaz Khan who plays the supporting role of a police inspector in GHAJINI. His character investigates the murders by the film's lead, Aamir Khan, and in the process also unearths some of the stories from his past.
