After a successful foray in production with TAAZE ZAMEEN PAR and JAANE TU YA JAANE NA, PVR Pictures all set to further delight movie buffs with internationally acclaimed movies. 2009 to see MERE KHWABON MEIN JO AAYE, GHOST GHOST NA RAHA and 2008 Cannes' closing film WHAT JUST HAPPENED among other releases by PVR Pictures

PVR Pictures had an extremely successful year in 2008 with films like BURN AFTER READING AND IN BRUGES. Both these films had been nominated in the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards under the category of Best Motion Picture. The results for the same are eagerly anticipated at a glittering Golden Globe Awards ceremony on January 11th 2009.

With its own production – TAARE ZAMEEN PAR after having won a set of National Awards this year, this Aamir Khan–starrer created a stir internationally by being selected as India's official entry at the Oscars as well. On the distribution front, PVR Pictures has carved a niche in the filmed entertainment space by bringing an array of acclaimed English titles for the Indian audience:

  • George Clooney–Brad Pitt starrer BURN AFTER READING was the opening film at the Venice Film Festival 2008.

  • Julianne Moore starrer BLINDNESS that is due for release on January 9th, 2009 was the opening film at the 61st Cannes Film Festival 2008 and the 27th Vancouver International Film Festival 2008. BLINDNESS was also selected in the 'Cinema of the World' category of the 39th International Film Festival of India held at Goa between 22nd November and 2nd December 2008.

  • Bruce Willis–Robert De Niro starrer WHAT JUST HAPPENED that is due for release in early 2009 was the closing film at the 61st Cannes Film Festival 2008
Commenting on the success of 2008 for PVR Pictures, Mr. Ashish Saksena, CEO, PVR Pictures says, ''It is a proud moment for all of us to be associated with such acclaimed movies that have brought Indian cinema on the world map and have given us an opportunity to bring world–class cinema to our Indian audiences as well. This is just the beginning and we hope that our endeavor to bring varied quality cinema for the Indian viewers helps us witness a growing interest in the world cinema space.''

Last year, by distributing outstanding English movies directed by Indian film makers like National Award–winning PARZANIA and acclaimed foreign titles including world cinema like DEATH AT A FUNERAL, PARIS JE' TAIME, PVR Pictures with its path breaking efforts has been instrumental in recognizing the need gap with respect to the demand and supply of discerning cinema and has successfully been able to contribute in developing the cinema viewing patterns by attracting a growing number of Indian audiences to appreciating new genres of movies. PVR Pictures is set out on a path to create benchmarks in releasing quality films that nurture fresh talent and bring forth fresh story concepts to woo cinema lovers worldwide.
