Multifaceted Farhan Akthar is turning actor with ROCK ON!! After wearing multiple hats of being a director, producer, story, screenplay and dialogue writer. He has made three diverse films like DIL CHAHTA HAI, LAKSHYA and DON - THE CHASE BEGINS AGAIN and is now all set to be seen in an altogether different role with ROCK ON!!
For the music of this film which explores the journey of a bunch of friends who live on their dreams to come together as a bunch of rock stars and become a notable band, Farhan Akthar along with friend and co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani had roped in Shankar Ehsaan Loy for the fourth time in their 7 years of film making.
The trio has been creating music for Excel Films, the production house of Farhan and Ritesh, ever since DIL CHAHTA HAI (2001) and the journey has only continued with LAKSHYA (2004) and DON - THE CHASE BEGINS AGAIN (2006). The only exception has been in case of HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT. LTD. that had music by Vishal-Shekhar but the film was only a production of Farhan and Ritesh since Reema Kagti was at the helm of affairs for its direction.
Now even though ROCK ON!! too sees Farhan in the capacity of a producer with Abhishek Kapoor being entrusted with the responsibility of being a director, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have been the chosen one. Interestingly another man who has been a common factor in each of the movies made by Farhan Akthar is his dad Javed Akhtar who has written lyrics for each of these five films.
ROCK ON!! is all set for release on 29th August and would be having Shiney Ahuja starrer HIJACK for company.
