Having assisted the likes of Madhur Bhandarkar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali in HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, Satish Kaushik in TERE NAAM & as a Creative Director with Feroz Nadiadwaala in his films viz. PHIR HERAPHERI, DEEWANE HUYE PAGAL & WELCOME Rajiv Sharma is all set to debut as a director with a film titled MERA BACHPAN under the banner of Power Entertainment.
MERA BACHPAN is set against the backdrop of Indian Christian family that is very aristocratic with lots of ancestral wealth and property. It deals with the growing up years of four kids of the family whom circumstances force to come and stay with their grandparents. The relationship between the grandmother and the kids in all its hues and shades of emotions is the highpoint of this thrilling story.
The role of grandmother is being portrayed by Helenji, who is making a comeback with an author backed and power-packed character. So is Padmini Kolhapure as mother of four kids (two teenagers and twins around eight years). Her interaction and balancing act between grandmother (her own mother) and her kids is full of complexity and enriched with nuances. While the other cast includes Rahul Roy in a friendly appearance, Mohnish Bahl in a special appearance, Tom Alter, Brandon hill and introducing Aishwarya Sakhuja, Teeshay, Master Rishabh Jain and Baby Bhoomika Sharma.
MERA BACHPAN is a musical family saga that is definitely going to carve a niche for itself in this era of multiplexes and very demanding audiences. The music of the film has been scored by Gourav Dasgupta and the lyrics are penned by Shelly.
