UTV-Shreyas film now titled WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR

It was about a year back that UTV had announced a film called MAHADEV KA SAJJANPUR under his newly designed banner UTV SPOT BOY. Directed by Shyam Benegal, the film was completed in quick time and is now ready for release. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Shyam Benegal, the film stars Shreyas Talpade, Amrita Rao and Ravi Kissen.
However, there is a slight change in plans. After being known as MAHADEV KA SAJJANPUR all this while, the film would now be known as WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR.
Confirmed for release on 19th September, the film would have Studio 18's DIL KABADDI for company. Directed by Anil Sharma, DIL KABADDI gets together a talented bunch of artists in the form of Rahul Bose, Irfan Khan and Konkona Sen.
Coming back to WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR, after the release of the film, Shreyas Talpade would have GOLMAL RETURNS and AASHYEIN (in a special appearance) to look forward to. He also has CLICK and PAYING GUESTS lined up for release soon after. On the other hand Amrita Rao too has her hands full with films like VICTORY, SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON and HOOK YA CROOK arriving soon.
About WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR
A comedy, the film revolves about Mahadev (Shreyas Talpade), a guy who is one of the few educated young men from Sajjanpur, and who makes his living by writing letters. His ability to write persuasive letters makes him extremely popular with largely the illiterate population of his town. The film is a delightful satirical take on a contemporary Indian village. The film has music by Shantanu Moitra, the film is an entertaining musical with characters and events being quite hilarious yet poignant.
