Jubilation time for Munnabhai!
Nation's most prestigious awards '54th National Film Awards' have been announced in New Delhi for the year 2006.
Rajkumar Hirani's LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI stood out as sure shot winner bagging four national awards in its kitty in different categories like Best Screenplay, Best Lyrics, Best Supporting Actor. It was also adjudged as the Best Popular Film providing wholesome entertainment.
Apart from the show-stealer LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI others in the winning league were Konkona Sen Sharma as the best supporting actress for OMKARA, Madhur Bhandarkar being tagged as best director for TRAFFIC SIGNAL. Priyanandanan's Malayalam film, PULIJANMAM bagged the national award for best feature film. While bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee walked away with the Best Actor Award for his role in debutant director Suman Ghosh's PODOKKHEP than tamil actress Priyamani won the Best Actress award for her performance in Ameer Sulthan's PARUTHIVEERAN.
