SINGH IS KINNG, one of the major releases of 2008, was given clean chit by the prominent members of Sikh community after the rushes of the film was shown to them. In a press conference Dr Gubachan Singh Bachan of Mumbai University, S Kulwant Singh of Shri Guru Singh Sabha, S Parbinder Singh of Sikh Brotherhood, S Sawaranjeet Singh of Sikh Media Watch along with others announced that they didn't have any objections to the film as such.
The conference was also attended by Askhay Kumar, the lead actor in the film, Anees Bazmee the director and Vipul Shah the producer of the film. Certain minor changes were suggested by the committee that saw the film and those recommendations would be duly incorporated in the film by the makers.
SINGH IS KINNG is a big budgeted film and has a bevy of actors. Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Neha Dhupia, Sonu Sood, Om Puri, Javed Jaffery, Ranvir Shorey, Sudhanshu Pandey and Kirron Kher star in the film. Most of the male star cast plays Sikh characters. The film has been extensively shot in Australia, Punjab and Egypt and is slated to release on August 8.
