As we had told you, earlier this month, the world rights of the 25-27 crore SARKAR RAJ were sold to Jeetendra and Ekta's Balaji for 38.50-40 crores. They in turn sold the 3 Bachchan starrer to PVR and Sahara for some of the important territories. While PVR procured the major territories of Delhi-UP, East Punjab and Mysore Circuit for 7 crore 30 lakhs, by way of an agreement, Sahara bought the territories of CI and Rajasthan for 2 crores.
However, after a not so good first week in the above mentioned territories (barring Mysore Circuit), trade estimates that until and unless SARKAR RAJ improves its collections in the second one, PVR are likely to lose around 1.5-2.0 crores and Sahara 50 lakhs, once the release costs are accounted for. It is because of this that PVR and Sahara are keeping their finger crossed and hoping for an improved performance from SARKAR RAJ.
While still on SARKAR RAJ, EROS International who bought the Overseas rights from Balaji for 7-8 crore are also facing rough weather, as the film has seen a 70-72 percent crash (in the second weekend) in the biggest Overseas markets of US, UK and Australia.
