Aziz: 'I would not want kids to believe in 'Kismat''

Film KISMAT KONNECTION is special not just because it stars Shahid Kapoor & Vidya Balan but also because it marks the return of the director Aziz Mirza who delivered hit films such as RAJU BAN GAYA GENTLEMAN, YES BOSS and CHALTE CHALTE in the past.
Everyone is enthused about Aziz Mirza's return. But what really has amazed one and all is that the director, who collaborated with Shahrukh Khan in every other project in his career, chose Shahid over SRK this time around. When we asked as to why he preferred Shahid instead of SRK for KISMAT KONNECTION, with calm and composed voice he answered 'When I was about to make RAJU BAN GAYA GENTLEMAN I had Shah Rukh in mind, at that time people used to poke me by saying 'Look at his hair, why do you want to cast him?' But I was always convinced that he is a good actor and I'll make a good film. Similarly while working on KISMAT KONNECTION's script, I had only Shahid in mind. I was very much sure that I wanted to cast Shahid even before VIVAH had released. When Ramesh Taurani asked me whom are you looking forward to cast in this film my reply was clear that I want Shahid. Besides, the film's script demanded a fresh young face and he perfectly suited the role to the T.'
Further we asked the veteran filmmaker about his upcoming outing KISMAT KONNECTON he said 'I was working on some other subjects and was not too sure whether I'll make a film. But my kids started coaxing me to make film. Infact my daughter Rahila came with this idea and insisted me to go ahead with KISMAT KONNECTIN. They wanted me to resume my work which I had left after CHALTE CHALTE.'
He further added 'I genuinely believe that this film was destined to be made. When it started and got over even I couldn't realize. This is the very first time that I didn't work on the music of the film which otherwise I always used to do. And Mashah Allah!! I am very happy with the music of the film and its good response from all corners.'
Destiny has a strong influence in each of our life. Many believe firmly in it. What are his beliefs about destiny? To this he promptly replied 'I have a very clear message to youth that they can't rely purely on destiny. One has to work hard and keep on grabbing on the opportunities that one gets to achieve ones dreams. Because if you are young and if you believe in destiny than you are a big fool. I would not want kids to believe in destiny.'
The film also has one more special thing to be talked about and that happens to be fresh talent Haroon Mirza, son of Aziz Mirza. Very few people must be aware that Haroon appears in the credits of KISMAT KONNECTION as the co-director. When we asked Aziz about the same he proudly replied 'I have been very fortunate and happy that Haroon helped me out. This film couldn't have been possible without Haroon.' Is this a kind of launching pad for Haroon? 'No', he instantly replied and in the same breath he said, 'It's not a launching pad for him. Haroon should be making independent films. But it's high time he's got his dues as far as I am concerned. Even during CHALTE CHALTE he had very big hand in it. He actually took care of everything when CHALTE CHALTE was being made. CHALTE CHALTE owes its success to Haroon.'
Talking about his future projects, Aziz just wants to concentrate on KISMAT KONNECTION as of now and has no big plans after it.
