There is hardly a month that goes by which doesn't see a film by Madhur Bhandarkar not making news. And we are not talking about his FASHION here which is looking at a November release. We are talking about the films that he has made in the past which invariably find themselves being a part of a film festival, course curriculum, film library or a felicitation.
While the filmmaker's TRAFFIC SIGNAL was recently in news for fetching him a National Award for the Best Director followed by Amitabh Bachchan talking about Bhandarkar in the same breath as the legendary filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee, there is more to come.
The latest on Bhandarkar front is that three of his films which have fetched a National Award - CHANDNI BAR, CORPORATE and TRAFFIC SIGNAL - would now be showcased in the South Asian Film Festival in Goa. Organized by South Asia Foundation, the event would be held between June 27-30, 2008.
Says the National Award director, "Regardless of the screenings that my films have enjoyed over the years, it is always a pleasure to see the appreciation from various festivals across the globe. I am glad that CHANDNI BAR, CORPORATE and TRAFFIC SIGNAL have now made it to the South Asian Film Festival. I have always believed in making films that mirrors the society we live in. Hopefully FASHION too would find an addition into the list in years to come."
