10 years after he last danced to a hardcore Bollywood number while shedding all his inhibitions, Manoj Bajpai has gone back to wearing his dancing shoes once again. The man who has made it possible is acclaimed choreographer Ganesh Acharya under whose baton Bajpai is not just acting but also in MONEY HAI TO HONEY HAI.
The number where Bajpai is seen shaking his leg is 'Jhappi' that has Govinda and Hansika Motwani leading the charge. The number also features the entire cast of the film that includes Aftab Shivdasani, Celina Jaitley and Upen Patel along with Manoj Bajpai. Though Aftab and Celina are paired with each other in the song, Manoj Bajpai and Upen Patel have to contend with each other.
So how does Manoj Bajpai do in the song? Well, call it the requirement of the script or Bajpai's two left feet but the way he appears on screen is funny to say the least. Finding hard to coordinate his movements, especially with other dancers around him being quite agile, Bajpai only aids in enhancing the fun quotient rather than being taken seriously.
Incidentally it was a decade back when Bajpai was noticed for his 'Kallu Mama' and 'Sapne Mein Milti Hai' songs in SATYA. While his 'Bhiku Mhatre' act was appreciated by one and all, the aforementioned two tracks had proved to be chartbusters as well. However, the fact is that the numbers didn't require him to get into coordinated dance steps and instead allowed him to just act the way his underworld character would.
Over the years gone by, Manoj Bajpai has tried his bit with dancing in films like ROAD, BEWAFAA and 1971 but it is only now with MONEY HAI TO HONEY HAI where he has got into a hardcore commercial setup which required him to do something different.
Well, now one waits to see whether after 'Jhappi', there is something more up the sleeves of Bajpai in songs to come!
