Apart from working together in FASHION, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and his protegee have found something more in common. And this common factor goes by the name of AAMIR.

Well, we are not talking about Aamir Khan but the film AAMIR which has been doing consistently well for the last three weeks and has slowly but steadily started finding a cult audience for itself. Released at select cinemas along with SARKAR RAJ, the film has been quite stable in the weeks gone by with everyone from within and outside the industry getting impressed by the punch that the film carries.

With appreciation like this coming in, the man who is most pleased about the film's success is Raj Kumar Gupta. The young director who was an erstwhile assistant to Anurag Kashyap, Raj Kumar Gupta was pleasantly surprised when he received a call from none other than Madhur Bhandarkar.

Says Gupta's friend, "Raj Kumar couldn't believe it when Madhur introduced himself. He was floored with the appreciation coming from Bhandarkar and couldn't thank him enough for the support and appreciation showered by someone who has won 3 National Awards for his films. He promised that he would continue to make meaningful cinema even in future and would ensure that the goodwill he has earned after AAMIR only shows an increment in years to come."

When contacted, Madhur Bhandarkar commented, "I have always believed in appreciating good cinema and have never hidden my emotions if I like a film. I did the same last year for JOHNNY GADDAAR which I absolutely loved. As per me, AAMIR is easily the best film to have come out of Bollywood so far in 2008. Raj Kumar Gupta has done a tremendous job in his very first film by getting critical acclaim as well as commercial success. He has done a great job in depicting realism while keeping the commercial quotient intact."

Mugdha Godse, who is being launched with Bhandarkar's FASHION shares similar sentiments, "AAMIR is indeed the best film I have seen in last few months. It was quite different and yet got well into the groove of being called as New Age cinema. It is easily one of the most amazing movies to have been churned out of Bollywood. It has floored me completely ever since I watched it. Raj Kumar Gupta has done a commendable job!"

AAMIR was released sans any fanfare with Rajeev Khandelwal being the only known name associated with the project. Still, this issue based film which is totally set in Mumbai went on to garner good appreciation and made a place for itself in audiences' heart. Now one looks forward to many more interesting projects coming from Raj Kumar Gupta and Rajeev Khandelwal in years to come.
