Madhur Bhandarkar: Mugdha Godse is a bundle of talent

Madhur Bhandarkar's discovery Mudha Godse is turning bold in film maker's upcoming FASHION which is being pitched as 'An Expose Into Glamorous Yet Dark World Of The Fasion Industry'. Undoubtedly, a subject like this has enough scope for the actors to project reality and Mugdha's character of Janet in the film is following the same route.
"I can't believe the lines I am saying when the camera starts rolling", says Mudgha animatedly, "Words like 'jhandoo' and 'bangroo' are not something that form a part of my everyday vocabulary and here I am using them all so naturally. Madhur sir's guidance around getting the right feel of the character is really helping me out here."
"In any case the character that I portray is quite bold. Janet is required to be tough and use rough language. She has been in the fashion industry for 4-5 years and hence understands the intricacies and behind the scenes functioning of the industry quite well", Mugdha informs about the character, "This is why if someone tries to act fresh with her, she gives it back. She goes to the extent of asking men to come up with new lines if they act a little too smart with her."
Does she turn into a different lady though once on ramp? "Absolutely", says Mugdha, "That's the beauty of the character. Behind the scenes she is quite casual and street smart. On the other hand the moment she lands on ramp, she is all sophisticated and feminine. Of course, my experience on the ramp has also helped."
Agreed that walking on ramp may have come easy on her but how about the portions which require her to mouth dialogues? How has been her experience in handling dramatic scenes?
"I have shot with Priyanka Chopra and Sameer Soni amongst other actors and the vibes I have been getting are definitely positive. I am told by Madhur sir that I have exceeded his expectations. I guess I can feel comfortable and quite confident with appreciation coming straight from my director."
For starters, Mugdha's character of Janet in FASHION is said to be based on the real life of another popular model Carol Gracias and borrows incidents from her infamous wardrobe malfunction on the ramp. Meanwhile, Mugdha is not new to the arc lights too and has number of feathers up her crown, be it modeling, television commercials, music videos or press campaigns.
When contacted Madhur Bhandarkar nodded in agreement, "The girl is a bundle of talent. In Mugdha, I have got the girl who is just the right mix of modeling and acting. She surprises me every day."
