Even before the release of ANAMIKA - THE UNTOLD STORY, director Ananth Mahadevan did have apprehensions about the prospects of his latest release, courtesy the ongoing IPL tournament.

"I don't know why there always seems to be some kind of connection between the release of my films and cricket matches. It happened last year in case of AGGAR when it got released when cricket season was at its peak. Now it has happened again with ANAMIKA - THE UNTOLD STORY when 20-20 cricket fever is reaching its peak", says Ananth.

"You do a lot of work while bringing your film on floors and suddenly such external factors just seem to ruin its prospects. Of course it becomes quite difficult to lead audience out of their rooms into theaters when so much entertainment is easily on the offering."

Ananth continues, "I never expect ANAMIKA to take a huge opening but based on the strength of the film, I know that those who see the film would certainly like it. The problem is around how to get that first bunch of audience into the theaters. I guess cricket continues to haunt me forever".
