Priyadarshan is continuing to churn out remakes at a standard frequency of one film every six months.

Fresh after the super success of his biggest money spinner ever, BHOOL BHULAIYAA, Priyadarshan is now gearing up for the release of MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP. The project looks pretty interesting for the very reason that it has been set as a clean family entertainer which explores the relationship between a son (Akshaye Khanna) who wants his widower father (Paresh Rawal) to remarry.

However, the fact is that MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP is a remake of Malayalam hit ISHTAM which had released in 2001. Directed by Sibi Malayil, the film starred Nedumudi Venu and Dileep in the roles of father and son. The film which has arrived with the tagline of 'Friendly parents are joy forever' was much appreciated for it's clean humour and soon Shemaroo Entertainment picked up the film's subject to be remade in Hindi.

Apart from Akshaye Khanna and Paresh Rawal, the film has Om Puri in an interesting role of a flirtatious old man who has a thing or two for the young girls and doesn't shy away from dancing amongst a bevy of beauties to a flashy item number. While Genelia D'Souza is Akshaye's love interest, Shobhana turns out to be the lady love of Paresh Rawal while Naseruddin Shah plays an important role as well.

About ISHTAM

Krishnan is a widower and successful businessman with his younger son Pavan as sole companion and a good friend. Pavan is in love with Anjana and Krishnan is all for her being his daughter-in-law. However, as luck would have it, Sreedevi, who is Anjana's guardian, turns out to be Menon's adolescent love. Now Pavan and Anjana try to reunite them which lead to many comical scenes in this enjoyable film.
