Remember the last fun featuring Aftab Shivdasani in a lead role where he actually let his hair down? Well, let's make it a little easy here. This was a film which also starred Riteish Deshmukh in a lead role and made him an overnight star. MASTI - this was the name of the film which had released way back in 2004.
Though MASTI was a rocking success all over, Aftab couldn't really replicate the film's success over the years. In fact he didn't even have any major comedies coming his way over the years gone by even though his forte lies in comedy.
He featured in love stories (SHUKRIYA, KOI AAP SA), special appearances in comedy films (MR YA MISS, SHAADI SE PEHLE), action flicks (JAANE HOGA KYA, SPEED), dramas (ANKAHEE, RED, LIFE MEIN KABHI KABHIEE) but a comedy featuring him in a lead role still continued to evade him.
However, the wait is now over as Aftab can be seen in what he is best at, comedy, in his upcoming release DE TAALI. Call it a coincidence but the film yet again stars Riteish Deshmukh along with Aftab Shivdasani. Also DE TAALI is directed by E Niwas who had given Aftab a good comedy success in the form of LOVE KE LIYE KUCH BHI KAREGA a few years back.
A fun film, DE TAALI features Aftab Shivdasani as Abhi, a rich, kind and classy guy who falls in love every time he meets a weird girl. The film also promises to capture friendship in its most real form and has Ayesha Takia and Rimi Sen as the leading ladies.
Produced by cinematographer Ravi Walia who made his debut as a producer with FIGHT CLUB - MEMBERS ONLY 2 years back, DE TAALI is aiming for a 20th June release.
