Seems like Kunaal is beginning his career with a laugh fest. Promotion of his debut film as a director, THE PRESIDENT IS COMING, has kick started and it appears that this November, audience would be subjected to yet another comedy fare, though in English language.

"True, the film is an out and out comedy. It is entirely in English because the play too has been in the same language. When adapting it as a feature film, there was no point in making the language as Hindi since it would have been quite a difficult and not–so–rewarding task. The reference points would have lost their meaning while humor would have lost its edge. Things would have gone awry since the entire style of the narrative would have gone wrong", says Kunaal about the reason behind making his first ever feature film in English.

Talking about the process of writing THE PRESIDENT IS COMING, Kunaal reveals, "The film is written by Anuvab Pal and I was involved from the very evolution of the film. We carried out a workshop and enjoyed getting the script in place for making it into the film. Anuvab has this obsession of making big deal about small things in life and the germ for THE PRESIDENT IS COMING too is his crazy idea. Once my name was thrown around for directing the film as well after the play, I was game for it."

The film releases at a time when the elections at US have already been held and a new President would be getting ready to occupy the chair.

"Yes, the film's release was planned to take place at a time when the world is aware about the exit of George Bush and Barack Obama coming in. Now, the relevance of film has been further amplified. Still, let me reiterate once again that though the film has an American theme, in its heart it is about six Indians and their hopes and aspirations."
