I couldn't refuse SAAS BAHU AUR SENSEX: Farooq

15 years after the release of Shah Rukh Khan-Deepa Sahi starrer MAYA MEMSAAB, Farooq Sheikh would be returning to the silver screen. However, he refuses to term SAAS BAHU AUR SENSEX as his comeback film. Stating that he was being visible throughout for his audience, courtesy his innumerable television shows, he insists that it is just the medium which has changed.
"You have to go away to make a comeback", quips Farooq Sheikh, who has come up with some of the most memorable performances in the 70s and the 80s, "I hadn't gone away anywhere. I was doing television and in last 13-14 years, I would have done 4-5 TV programs. In fact in the recent past, I haven't done any TV as well."
Talking about the way he likes working, Farooq Sheikh comments, "This is the way I have always been. When I was doing films, there was hardly any TV that I did. And when I came on TV, I stopped working in films. I have always believed in doing only one thing at a time."
So what really brought him back to the film studios?
"The moment Shona Urvashi (director of SAAS BAHU AUR SENSEX) offered me the film, I couldn't refuse it", says Farooq Sheikh honestly, "MAYA MEMSAAB was my last time and even in the interim when Shona offered me CHUPKE SE, her debut film, I couldn't do it for some reasons. Now I didn't have any reasons to say no to SAAS BAHU AUR SENSEX. Also, I have a special relationship with the banner as I have acted in their CHASHME BADOOR in the past."
A Warner Bros film, SAAS BAHU AUR SENSEX sees Farooq Sheikh play the role of a stock broker. His bitter-sweet moments with Kirron Kher are said to be the lifeline of the film which stars Tanushree Dutta, Ankur Khanna and Masumi Makhija as the youth brigade. The film releases all over on 12th September.
