I knew I would be compared with Farhan - Abhishek Kapoor

ROCK ON is a hit and the film's director Abhishek Kapoor, who once upon a time had made Sohail Khan-Sneha Ullal starrer ARYAN, is undoubtedly elated. Enjoying the success of the film, he is hardly bothered about whispers of his direction style being quite similar to that of Farhan Akhtar in the surprise success of 2008.
"But I was expecting to hear something like this all this while", acknowledges Abhishek who has also acted in a couple of films as a lead hero more than a decade back, "When you work with someone who has been a successful director himself, talks like these are obvious. But sorry, it doesn't bother me or anyone else associated with ROCK ON since we all know how the film was conceptualized and finally delivered."
ARYAN had failed at the box office and it took quite some time for Abhishek to get back on his feet again and start running.
"This is when I started working on ROCK ON. I was working independently on writing the film and I approached Farhan mainly in the capacity of an actor. It wasn't as if I had assisted him on his earlier films or was associated with his production house by any means, hence the question of being influenced by his style of direction doesn't even arise. I respect the way he has made films all these years and pushed the envelope. I guess that's the only similarity I have brought in ROCK ON", laughs Abhishek whose film is already being touted as a cult film across the country.
What next?
"Nothing for the moment", sighs Abhishek, "I have waited for years for this moment, let me enjoy it naa!"
