Shefali Shah's forays into the world of television made her a household name with a number of successful soaps to her credit. But, she shot to fame with the chartbuster from SATYA (where she played Manoj 'Bhiku' Mahatre's wife), 'Sapne Mein Milti Hai'.
However, since her marriage to director-producer Vipul Shah, Shefali has turned very selective and now does films and roles which are of substance. She has been associated with some critically acclaimed movies and has come in for praise from all quarters. The most notable ones being, MONSOON WEDDING, 15 PARK AVENUE, GANDHI MY FATHER, BLACK AND WHITE and now THE LAST LEAR. Critics rave about her performance in the Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Arjun Rampal starrer, THE LAST LEAR. One critic who had the privilege of seeing the film at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival writes, "Shafali Shah is an absolute scene stealer and delivers a performance full of fire and gusto. Her facial expressions are priceless. Wow!"
Have to say that it must be some performance considering that she had to stand up to be taken notice of, against the actor of such a high caliber as Amitabh Bachchan. Hardly surprising since she has done it earlier also. Yes, you have guessed it right. It was in her husband's WAQT-RACE AGAINST TIME, where she played Amitabh's wife with elan.
