If director Vivek Sharma has to be believed, his heroine Vaishali Desai is a combination of Madhuri Dixit and Kareena Kapoor. That's the exact compliment the man gave his KAL KISSNE DEKHA heroine Vaishali Desai a few days into the first schedule of the film.
Says a unit source, ''Even though Vaishali had just started her stint in front of the camera, she grew in confidence as the days progressed. Impressed, Vivek was quick to acknowledge her hard work combined with screen presence and beauty. He walked up to an unsuspecting Vaishali and showered her with compliments. As for Vaishali, she could hardly see it coming and was left speechless with the accolades coming her way. All she could do was say thanks.''

Ask Vaishali about the incident and she gets all red faced, ''It's something very personal for me and I would cherish that moment. I don't know how much he really meant that or if he was just trying to boost my confidence. Whatever be the case, it did wonders to my morale. It made me move a million miles ahead at the beginning of the shoot itself.''
As she enters Bollywood, she would have to get used to the compliments coming her way. How is she looking at differentiating between the real and fake compliments?
''By going back to my family every night'', says Vaishali, ''For me, they are the biggest critics in my life. They are very appreciative when I do something good and would be the first to tell me when I err. Whatever I am today, it's because of them. It's their grooming of me that has helped shape up my character. They have told me quite clearly that flattery doesn't take one anywhere while criticism mostly helps. All I do is seriously follow their advice.''
