ALOO CHAAT hasn't worked at the box office, hence proving to be one of those rare comedy flicks featuring Aftab Shivdasani that hasn't excited the audience. Otherwise, if one looks at films like MASTI, AWARA PAAGAL DEEWANA, LOVE KE LIYE KUCH BHI KAREGA or HUNGAMA, - each of these films has had three factors in common: a) Aftab Shivdasani as the leading man, b) The film belonging to comedy genre and c) Good box office results.

''It's a misconception that comedy is my favorite genre. No, it's not. It's just that I am most comfortable with doing comedy'', says Aftab who began 2009 with ALOO CHAAT, a comedy, but with little success.

His continued presence in thrillers as well as numerous dramatic outings like KASOOR, PYAASA, FOOTPATH, JAANE HOGA KYA, RED and SPEED does indicate his affinity towards the darker side of things as well.

''That's true, I actually love thrillers. Give me an intense love story and I would love to do that. And why just a love story or a thriller; I would be happy doing a full on action flick as well'', Aftab comments, rightly so since his upcoming films like ACID FACTORY and KAMBAKKTH ISHQ have a fair dose of action as well.

As an actor who is looking at a busy year ahead with yet another comedy DADDY COOL being one of his four major releases, Aftab wants himself to be considered as a versatile actor.

''As an actor, I like doing different things and this is the reason why I keep juggling around with genres. 2009 should seem some really exciting times for me ahead with movies hitting upon different subjects and treatment'', concludes Aftab hopefully.
